TYPES
OF SAFARIS
Zambia is described as the “real Africa” and it is easy to see why.
The safari options in Zambia are probably the most varied in Africa
and the wildlife, and wilderness are, may be viewed in numerous different
ways.
• Game Drives
These are operated in open vehicles, usually at dawn and dusk, accompanied
by armed rangers and trackers who passes a canny “sixth sense” of these
to seek out the most interesting wildlife.
Night drives may also be arranged, enabling visitors to glimpse the
nocturnal world.
• Walking Safaris
Zambia is the birthplace and home of the walking safari and home,
of the walking safari and there is no better way of getting really
close to nature than this. Under the watchful eye of armed rangers,
walkers are able to enjoy the sights, sounds of the bush in harmony
with their surroundings. On some treks participants may be exploring
areas untouched by man for many centuries.
• BOAT SAFARIS
Cruise along the banks of Zambia’s rivers and lakes past prolific
bird-life, crocodile and hippo. And view buffalo, elephant and game
as it comes down to the waters edge to drink.
• CANOE SAFARIS
These offer a great alternative to land-based safaris and no real
boating skills, or experience, are necessary. Two-seater fiberglass
canoes ply the waters of the Zambezi and other waterways, providing
both and a silent way of viewing the animals so avoiding disturbing
them.
• ELEPHANT – BACK SAFARIS
One of the most enjoyable ways of going on safari. An elephant experience
rather than just a ride. And a wonderful opportunity to interact with
other wildlife from the backs of these gentle giants.
• HORSEBACK
SAFARIS
Led by experienced rider/ guides and offering prolific bird and game
watching opportunities, rides often include a visit to a local village.
